Title: Mildew....sooty mould...???
Post by: agapanthus on May 30, 2006, 12:23:54
My young honeysuckle (1 year old) leaves are covered in this. It was ok about 5 days ago.
If it is mildew, which I thought was caused through hot and dry conditions, it does'nt make sense as
all we've had for the last 2 weeks or so is rain. ??? ???
Also the ladybird on the leaf is orange with 12-14 white spots on it....had tried googling but did't come up with an identification.

The ladybird looks like a cream-spot ladybird which is very rare :)

The honeysuckle I have growing in shade never gets mildew, the honeysuckle on the back fence which get sun most of the day always gets it come June.

You can spray with a fungicide containing copper such as Murphy Traditional Copper fungicide, or try spraying with a solution of bicarbonate of soda in water, or you could use Multirose from PBI or Focus Fungus Spray which contains myclobutanil.
