Any ideas what this is and what should I do? ???
Someone muttered something like "sow-weed or sow-grass" (sow as in female pig!) :-\

Yes,that's sow thistle,it runs underground like couch grass does. The leaves have only softish spines on. I keep battling with a patch ,just keep getting out all the root you can.

Yes now you mention it I had a small patch on one allotment but was more worried about the couch and bindweed at the time!
Must have got it all out!
