Title: Planting out things from 3" pots
Post by: Georgie on May 05, 2006, 20:05:09
My sunny border is already fairly well stocked and I mulched it with cocoa shells back in March.  This makes planting out new specimens quite difficult as (a) there's little room to work with a spade and (b) the cocoa mulch tends to crack and break, even if I use a trowel.  So today I hit on a bright idea. I used a bulb planter down it's full depth, back filled with compost and bonemeal to the required depth and then popped the plants in.  It worked a treat.  :D

Clever stuff G, is your bulb planter the hand model or the tall one? :D

I used cocoa shell mulch once ten years ago. The garden reeked of chocolate for a day or so, then the wind came and blew it all over Hertfordshire >:( ;)
