Title: When to plant out
Post by: lorna on April 20, 2006, 18:18:48
Now my salad/veg little area is prepared when can I plant the following seedlings out please.
Lettuce
Carrots
Radish
I have toms but keep them in the greenhouse and runner beans I have grown before
so will leave the beans until May??
Squash, melons and herbs are only just germinating so should be free of frosts by the time they grow a bit..
Other than runner beans and toms these are all new to me.
Thanks. Lorna.

Lettuce can go out anytime.
Carrots and radish, I don't believe these will transplant, they should be sown in situ?
Beans in May will be fine, again after frosts.

I also thought carrots should only be grown in situ, but on the RHS veg course at
college we grew direct and in modules.I have grown mine in modules this year and will put in a prepared bed under fleece later and touch wood they will be fine.
