Title: help, devil's walking stick
Post by: campanula on March 08, 2004, 17:52:38
hello there
i am looking for seeds or plants of 'devils walking stick' or aralia spinossima (or v.similar, lots of sss's).
I know I have seen this in a catalogue somewhere but cannot, for the life of me, think where. I have heard people referring to a tall cabbage with a very long stalk but i do not think that is what i am looking for. Have tried chiltern seeds (my usual port of call for unlikely seeds) but no joy - Can anyone enlighten me byeither telling me more about these or suggesting where imight find some.
fingers crossed, suzy

According to http://www.beechesnursery.co.uk/ (http://www.beechesnursery.co.uk/) aralia spinosa is a tree, a Spiny Ash.

Thompson and Morgan's have the Walking Stick Cabbage (http://seeds.thompson-morgan.com/uk/en/product/779/1 (http://seeds.thompson-morgan.com/uk/en/product/779/1);  it's also called the Jersey Cabbage, I think, so you could have a look for that?

All best - Gavin

PS - it'd be nice to see some pics, as they grow!

B. and T. World Seeds carry seeds if you want to grow them yourself. Google will get you to them.
