Title: Your favourite present? (mine is so tasteful)
Post by: Yellow Petals on December 26, 2005, 21:54:20
Weeeellll....it had to be done, didn't it?  And if it pushes those other stupid threads off this page then it can only be a good thing.

My most favourite and tasteful present of 2005 was from my mum and sister; a sexy black over the shoulder boulder holder!  Seriously, that's what it's called.  Photos have been taken, now it's just a matter of whether I'm brave enough to put one of them on here! Hehehehehe.

Just like to mention unusual one (only present to do with gardening). It is called Toiletries and plant pot. It consists of a rather nice little pot,(ceramic), hand cream  mini spade, mini fork, soap, nail brush, flannel .  Couldn't make it all out when I first looked at it. Thought the rake might be a new fangled comb.. ::)Going to decide what to sow in it.

Debbie and I just bought ourselves a digi camera at last - a Pentax Optio 60.  It had to be a named camera manufacturer due to me fancying myself a bit as a photographer - it's all in the lens you know  ;D

Other than that may faves were walking trousers, a small plastic greenhouse, gardening gloves, seeds, a Jerry Garcia tie (collection 8) and a book on Peak District walking.

I have had so much in my keyboard (and got through so many) over the years that I thought it was worth investing in a sealed keyboard.  Now when I spill my beer in my keyboard, I can just pour it back into my class - yum. ;D

Mine was without a doubt my new Orangutan from Mr Aqui.

Yes - he bought me a real live orangutan!

OK - so it was an adoption thing from the WWF. But I got a little toy orangutan which has been much played with over the past four days. It all made me cry!

(hmm - I'm nearly 30 and I still play with cuddly toys!)

Other than that I mostly got books on such disverse subjects as trees, how plants got their names, mushrooms and other fungi, the ethnobotanical use of plants, herbal medicine, making your own soap etc. I have a lot of reading to do; good job it's winter!

Aquilegia 30 still play with cuddly toys....... Why not?
My parents were so poor I only ever got to cuddle the poor old mongrel dog (Hold on until I get my violin ;D) Did have five sisters and three brothers but as I am next to youngest they wouldn't let me cuddle them :o
Lovely present from Mr. Aqui

Mmmmm difficult one this. I got a gorgeous Heron Glass Mushroom from my daughter to add to my collection and a necklace from Ian (red gold, white gold and yellow gold - pleated) that matched a bracelet he bought me a few years back. Got loads of garden vouchers, garden tools etc but I think my favourite has to be the beautiful bronzed pottery garden ball that my youngest son bought me.  ;D  ;D Didn't I do well? Will take a piccie soon to let you all see.

I had a late present this morning when husband was clearing out his too small clothes for the charity shop - he found some pressies for me he'd forgotten about.  A gardening diary (big job with loads of room in for notes) and three pairs of gardening gloves.  Lovely!

Breadmaker not so bad.  Despite my worst fears the bread was lovely and the loaf was huge  ;D  Now am a breadmaking veteran having made on successful loaf will today attempt a parmesan and sun dried tomato job.  Hope I'm not running before I can walk.  Oh well, she who dares an all that  ;D

Aren't I just Lorna  :)   My breadmaker is lovely so far.  I have made two loaves now.  My first was lovely so buoyed up by my success have made another one.  Ta da!  A parmesan and sun dried tomato effort.  It's cooling now.  Have not turned it out yet but will go off and do it in a mo.  Have lots of ideas for bread now so I expect I should go into other interests thread and "come out" as a breadmaker  ;D

tim would be appalled I think at my selling out and using a breadmaker but having used it just the once thought it was 99.9% easier and far less energy consumed both by me and the oven  ;D  So using a breadmaker saves the planet.  You heard it here first  ;D

Wardy. All that talk about freshly baked bread would normally have me needing a bib, BUT I was invited round Lorna's again for evening meal and I am "stuffed".Considering she has a Mother who cannot cook for toffees she does well. Nice roast chicken, yorkshire, carrots, broccoli, sprouts, mashed creamed pot, roast pots., not forgetting the stuffing.
Do you know I haven't cooked a thing since the day before Christmas eve!!!!I just keep being invited out.(Just shows what a nice person I am 8) 8))
Oh I tell a fib I grilled some bacon for a sandwich this morning ;D

You're so lucky getting all those peeps to cook.  Mind you I did go out for a meal the other night so can't complain.  Had no meal yesterday just filled up on home made bread with smoked chicken breast.  Going out for pizza this afto as it's my nieces 12th birthday party at Pizza hut.  Oh just what I wanted more bread  ;D

I had curry and cake yesterday (neice's birthday) so agian I didn't cook.  Last time I cooked 'proper' was when we had the outlaws round for pre-chrissy din-dins (about 10th Dec) as they are currently sunning it up in Sri Lanka for 3 months.  Roast pork dinner for 18 with all the trimmings.  Wimped out an did fruit for pud.  Then a marathon of work do's so no evening meals prepared at home.  This crissy I hosted bubled and squeak day so flipping a few fried eggs is about as culinary as I have got recently.

I am chuffed to have been given some Piet Oudolf books!! :)

As a present for myself, I bought a new Canon EOS 350D Digital SLR camera, which I am really excited about. I decided that I was really enjoying my photography so much that I could justify a 'proper' camera.

Christmas was good this year - some Kiwi hospitality in Dunedin/Christchurch on the 25th and a family Christmas back home on the 28th. Perfect!

Daisymay -
did I read right that you got an engagement ring for Christmas? Congratulations! I was hoping I might get one of those. Nevermind, already been with him 8 years without one, so whats another year? I guess he could surprise me on my Birthday (my 30th on Tuesday!), but I won't hold my breath! lol

I did get some good presents though... a wind up/solar powered radio to use down the allotment, a flask for my tea and the new Kate Bush album.  Fantastic!

Happy New Year everyone!
