Title: Snow on it's way
Post by: Jesse on December 26, 2005, 18:11:52
Just seen the weather report, looks like we'll be getting snow tomorrow here in the southeast. It can snow all it wants for the next week but come January it must all stop as I've got some serious weeding to do :)

Oh please, please, please Jess!! I've had me tobogan in and out of that blessed shed....but yup agree, week would be nice....shall we put in an order?? ??? ;)

Post by: Jesse on December 26, 2005, 18:23:59
I'm really hoping it will snow....a lot! I bought a tobogan a few years ago and we've not used it yet, oh heavens where did I put it, it's probably hiding underneath about 4 years of junk? ::)
Title: Re: Snow on it's way
Post by: undercarriage plan on December 26, 2005, 18:27:07
or just slide about on the junk??? If it slides, sit on it!!! Tea trays are excellent, and have been know to use a bin bag, but that doesn't work wonderfully well...

Well it has just said on the tv that it is to sweep in from the  east and is to cover the whole country eventually. The east and south east is to get a good load of it and it is to work it's way over to the west ;D

Is Wardy there?  Me and the OH are planning on going for a walk around Edale tomorrow and we are now worried about the weather - it can snow while we are there - don't mind kipping on a school hall floor for a while but do want to be able to get there.

I hope it snows long and hard enough to hinder my return to work tomorrow  ;D

I love the snow.  I know it's not pleasant for drivers and I appreciate that, but as a non driver and a complete child at heart, I do truly love the snow.  Yay!

Derek, dare I ask what happens when you hit a bump?

A dented tray, a bruised butt and a crushed coccyx. ::)

It's currently snowing up here at Castle Donington (next to East Midlands Airport).   I'm currently looking out of my office window watching the white stuff come down & praying I can get home when my shift finishes this afternoon.

We had about tem minutes' worth of snow just now. Yellow Petals, you should move to Cornwall; any snow at all is sufficient to stop work there. I remember the time we had about an eighth of an inch whole I was down there; everyone took the day off, and the plant at the top of the village had to close for the day. Most of the employees lived  in the village and management were furious, but there was nothing they could do about it.

Only a light fall here but now it has turned colder, getting dark and snowing quite heavily. Thought I was going to have a quiet day on my own, lo and behold son John and Grandson Lee turned up and then middle daughter Alyson, her partner and three kids turned up. Goes without saying that Lorna & co from next door have been in and out all day. I JUST LOVE IT :)

Plural? Excuse my ignorance but doesn't the word itself mean assemblage of small bones? All I know is that if I had broke mine, like poor Emma has it wouldn't matter if they were singular or plural just bl**dy painful.
Anyhow TM am fed up with all this educamated (Imade that word up) stuff. Pleas speak in common language so that poor souls like me can understand. Happy New Year..Wehey more celebrations.

Bah Humbug re: snow!!

I work as a support worker for the elderly and drive to their homes to sort out geriatric crises. Have just finished a late shift and here in Oldham the snow is a nightmare!!

Gritters have done their bit.....but only on bus routes, not the smaller roads, so have skidded and slid my way around the borough all evening!!

But if I was 6 or 7 years old I would LOVE it!!!

It's a nightmare in school as well; just class after class of overexcited kids, the odd idiot who thinks they can smuggle a snowball into a lesson and throw it when I'm looking the other way, etc. etc. What they never seem to realise is that I can watch an object fly through the air and work out exactly which desk it came from.

Robert That made me laugh. Years ago when my girls were little I would put them to bed and then I would hear one or two out of bed. I would call from OUTSIDE their closed bedroom door "Get back in to bed Alyson/Vickie" or who ever was guilty. They never found out for years that I would peep through the keyhole.

Hi Gardenpath.  Big welcome to this site. Not much snow here in the Fens, did have a smallish fall last night which has made side roads dodgy but all main roads are OK. . Nice to have you aboard, tell us something about yourself, or maybe you have already done that on another thread....... Lorna.

Hahahahah that takes me back a bit!  Back when I was about thirteen, we had a lovely big downfall of snow and my mates and I had a huge snowball fight during break time.  We were covered, head to toe and completely drenched.  I had lumps of snow hanging out of my hair, etc.  The minute I walked into class my French teacher - who was also my form tutor, marched me straight back out again, refusing to have me in her class until I had gone and made myself respectable!  On the plus side, it meant I could stand under the dryers in the toilets for a little while as I was actually freezing  ;D ;D

Went to throw a snowball at my husband this morning until he gave me the evil "dont you dare even think about it" eye over the top of the car.  Thought better of it and got in quietly.

I created mayhem a time or two at school by opening the windows in my form room, which overlooked a large grassy area where they all played in the snow, then standing behind a window in the middle and shouting insults. Every time a snowball looked like coming close I closed my window, and meanwhile they were flying through all the others making an incredible mess.

joji. No more snow here, all the roads are now clear. Just a little on the garden but it is bitterly cold. If it keeps up for the weekend will you be racing the dogs? If so please get some pics for us.

That's what the kids at school don't realise; teachers see straight through them because we've all done as bad if not worse in our day.

And because ALL teachers have peripheral vision! LOL

[And because ALL teachers have peripheral vision! LOL

If you haven't, you soon learn! I have very bad eyesight; all the kids know it's a real problem at times. But I can see motion perfectly well out of the corner of my eye. A couple of weeks before Christmas, one of them asked me, 'Sir, how is it that you're so blind, but you can still see everything we do?'
