Would anyone like to share with us any Folk Lore saying that they know of?
I know there on some folk on here that could impart a wealth of information ;D

And yes, Wards, completely barmy!! Though he has told me how to catch a bunny on the plot, apparently, you start walking in ever decreasing circles around the bunny as it's munching your cabbage, starting a fair distance away, and apparently cos of their poor depth perception, you can end up right next to them, pick 'em up by ears and give them a firm teling off!! Of course, if you start the circle too big, the bunny will probaby have got bored and left....... ;D
And Ady, you can never have enough lil ol men.....honestly, bit harsh of you I feel... ;)

1. Sow seed with a waxing, never a waning moon

~ if you don't have a carcass handy & want to make your soil more acidic you can water them with dilute vinegar-4tbsp of vinegar into a pint of water-once a month durning the growing season or you can add coffee grounds to the soil to make it more acidic

If you want your hydrangea to turn blue, bung a handful of rusty nails into the bottom of the planting hole.
Or will that make it pink...........

They are simple folk in Suffolk Max, don't read too much into it - they really do need to be told not to put a worm on their heads or they would all be doing it - and carrying frogs around in buckets etc.

Because when they fall off and get trodden on it makes an awful mess.
This is a problem at all large gatherings and can be witnessed in the North Stand at Portman Road at the height of worm season.

OK, OK...I'll behave..... ::) ;) My neighbour always hurls her old tea onto her Camellia bush, she hasn't a clue why she's doing it, purely cos her gran did, and I have to say, I've never seen one with sooo many blooms on it....though her aim is pretty poorly..... and it's probably more to do with the fact that she has lovely soil, and lots of.....WORMS!! ;D ;D ;D

The worm is supposed to have psychedelic properties as it feeds exclusively on peyote cactus which the native Americans injest to transcend to a higher plane. Being a veggie, I cannot attest to whether this is true or not as I have never had the drink.

It basically means don't do anything in the garden until May has gone as the weather is so unpredictable until then. I think clout probably refers to clout nails as in making sheds etc. It's an old Lancashire saying.
My cousin used to peg worms when he was very small but I wouldn't advise it! ;D
