Is this a greenfinch, and if not what? Please!
-
Looks like a greenfinch to me!
Here's one on Surfbirds for comparison: http://www.surfbirder.com/cgi-bin/ukbirdid/readcsv.pl?name=greenfinch

Looks like a greenfinch to me also.
-
100% Greenfinch, get loads in my garden
Chris

Definately a Greenfinch then Eric. Heck, you get all the exotic birds and I get Greenfinches, strange. Will swap for some of your Fieldfares.
;D ;D ;D
-
thank you all kindly.
-
That's a male greenie. The female is brown.
-
Yup definitely a greenfinch, although the angle of the picture does not show
a typical finch shaped beak.
We used to have greenfinches visiting our garden regularly, but for some
unknown reason, have not had any at all this year.

Hate to throw a spanner in the works, but could it be a Siskin? And what are the major differences between a Greenfinch and a Sisken, looked it up on RSPB and the sisken apparently is smaller, with a thin beak and forked tail. :-\ DP
-
I have to say the same as Doris i to think it may be a siskin. :)
-
I agree - looks more like a siskin to me. We have loads of greenfinches and the beak is shorter and thicker than the one in the photo.
-
Maybe, but Siskins are not common in this area and greenfinches are.
-
This is a Siskin, think Erics is a Greenfinch......

The siskin is a far yellower-looking bird than Palustris'.
