Title: cheesemaking
Post by: agapanthus on December 07, 2005, 17:25:28
Has anyone ever tried making cheese? I gave it a go a few years ago but have lost the easy recipes I kept. Got any recipes for easy cream cheese?

I've made paneer which is easy

Also I make Yogurt "cheese"  which is made by straining yogurt through a piece of cloth or a proper yogurt strainer, and you end up with a thick curd like "cheese" which although not technically cheese can be used on crackers etc when mixed with your fave things, eg chives,
spring onion and mint, coriander and lime, etc etc.  Less fattening than full fat soft cheese anyway and no-one would know the difference  :)

I love the stuff  :)

mmmmmmmmmmm, my mum makes that wardy, and stores it in olive oil.  You can mix alsorts of lovely things with it, or make it into balls and roll them in yummy things.

Derek  If you're a curry fan then making your own yogurt is just an extension of that

Instead of marinating in oil you marinate in yogurt  ;D plus all the lovely curry spices  ;D

The paneer is of special appeal, I adore what I have tasted, I have even ordered paneer instead of meat in curries ... we already often marinate in yoghurt ...

Somebody posted a site on here that had how to make your own cheese at home, thought I had put it in my favorites but can't find it!
Done search but there are 10 pages for cheese! :o
If anyone facies looking it is in A4All somewhere! ;D

Speaking of cheese  ......  I forgot to mention Derek when telling you about paneer that the "water" from it is used as a rinse for your hair.  Then remembered you don't have any  ;D
