Oh heck - that's a bit close for comfort Emma! (you're not that far away from me, but I'm sure there's a pretty big difference meterologically between rural Essex and East London (work) or Greater East London (home).)

(Although secretly I am hoping we get some, but not til monday and then it has to be enough to stop the tubes running so i can't go to work, otherwise it'll just make it harder to commute!)

Don't worry Aqui, it stopped!  Lasted about 30 minutes though, right when the kids were out at lunch playtime so I bet they were all thrilled!!

Derek, you old misery you!  ;) ;) ;) ;)  I know you don't mean it...just think, snowball fights, building snowmen, and you could try out your new improved skating skills on the local frozen pond!!!!!  ;D ;D ;D

The Pennines seem to protect us here is Yorkshire.  Just clear blue sky, lovely and sunny today, bit nippy though!

I hear Bodmin Moor is bad, people stranded due to accident.

Nan and Grandad are about 25 minutes from the border of Cornwall, and they have thick thick snow!  My auntie lives in a little village called Westleigh, close to Instow beach, and she is snowed in!  The village is cut off!!  No more snow in Essex this afternoon but BOY WAS IT COLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jolly cold here tonight....

Late dinner as we went to pick up my cousin's husband from the station after his week of London meetings. He's staying for the weekend.

Warm inside (only) and thank heavens for Jeff as it's 40 degrees back home in Oz!

Cuddle up! CLx

I just spoke to my mother, she's on south Cornwall halfway between St. Austell and Truro. She said it's been total chaos on the roads, and the train from Plymouth got stuck last night, but they're OK, with about a foot of snow.

Not bad here in Leeds either.  Cloudy, a very slight drizzle, didn't last long, mild too.  Long may it continue.

I'm with you Derek, no snow please, mostly because of the trouble it causes so many people.

Well, just come in for a spot of lunch and had a cold but productive morning in the garden.  Thick mulch over dahlias of spent compost, wrapped the bananas up with net curtains and stuffed loosely with straw and covered the gunnera with conifer trimmings, so they should all be cosy during the long cold winter.  Now, back out to rake up the leaves, put the last of the pots away, stash all the kids toys in their playhouse and  and generally tidy the borders.  BBBRRR

Yup our allotment crowd are pretty friendly too, the shout went up to unload a wagon, and five of us were there before the driver had removed the tarpaulin. An hour of grunting and sweating and the wagon was cleared. We all pottered back to our plots then ...

Saw a couple of snowflakes this morning, they melted before they hit the ground ! Then on way back from Wakefield, it began to sleet.  Now it's just rain.  It's cold enough to snow though.

None in my part of the world (west essex/east london) unless it was in the middle of the night and melted by morning. We had a bit of sleet late saturday morning. but that was it. rather relieved and only slightly disappointed.

But at least it's warmer now. (slightly!)

Derek, not sure whether to thank you or warn the post man!! But think I'll go for Thank you!!! My postman is always bad tempered bless him. Remember when the kids were little, Meg waiting for Bday cards, he came up the path, I opened the door and said "Ooo look it's postman Pat.." Long pause, he glared at us and said  "Neil, name is Neil.." Such a sweetie.... ::)  ::) ::)

Cold in Essex, but the sun is out, no frost, no snow!  Got the allotment and it looks fab, not a weed in sight!  Dug up 4 huge parsnips, bunch of carrots, pulled 2 celerys which are holding well, 6 leeks, bag of spinach, bag of white swiss chard and a bowl of sprouts.  Perfect!

Still no snow hear in South Leeds.  Just a beautiful, cold, crisp sunny day, with just a hint of whispy clouds.  I hear it's 17 deg in Penzance.
