Title: what sort of garlic?

Hi everyone, thanks for the help but still not sure what garlic to plant ???
Can i just split bulbs of garlic from sainsburys? If so, what - French? Spanish?

Oops, just noticed that threads are more than one page long - lots of info on s.market garlic :-[
