Title: which weed supressing fabric ?
Post by: BAGGY on September 12, 2005, 11:33:59
Daft question alert ........
We have been gifted a whole heap of not quite rotted manure.  A lot of the plot is weedy (chick weed and stuff where the spuds were and around the fruit on the 1/2 plot).  We were thinking of spreading the muck and covering it with fabric of some description.  Def want it round the soft fruit as a permanant feature.
Do we get the woven black stuff - if so what type as some says it has to be mulched with chippings, or thick black plastic ?  I was told that the worms would work in the poo over winter and then we could plant through the plassy or remove it and go from there.
Interested in the cardboard idea too but would need masses.

I agree with Wardy.

Also pleased to see someone spells like me - it's called Phormisol and I've just ordered a stack for a new strawb bed and other things from www.lbsgardendirect.co.uk.
