Title: Waiting for daylight!
Post by: Crash on September 05, 2005, 06:07:54
This weekend we've been on a scooter rally to Mersea Island near Colchester. When we got home I had a message to ring the local field officer. I've got my lottie! Woo Hoo. I've been awake since 3.30 waiting for daylight so I can go down and take a photo of it. A little overgrown but I'm ready for the hard work. My lottie is 13 rods and had a damson tree and other fruit bushes on it. Going to start clearing it this afternoon and see what else is hiding!

Photos tp follow!

;D Hi Crash ;) Know how you feel especially if this is your first lottie, it was about this time last year I was awaiting the same news but was kept on tenter hooks until the beginning of December, well worth the wait though.

Good luck and keep the photo's coming. ;D

Hi
I'm ripped to shreads. Brambles and nettles attacking me all day! Well heres my lottie "before" photos..... I've been for beer and curry tonight so no "little bit after shots". I lost 8lbs on the lottie today. Mostly through sweat! I need to remember to take more drinks with me...

And here's my shed!

;D But wasn't it fun? perhaps not ready yet, but maybe tomorrow, but who cares? it is still there and waiting for your planting hand to do the biz. ;D

I love the shed, in a little shady nook too! I'd swap that for a modern one any day. ;D

Yeah - have to agree with Roy, the shed look s good and it is in a good location.  I right little hidy hole.  Remember - a bit at a time and plant what you can when you can in what you have done.  If there is something you want growing to look at, it makes hacking away at the soil and weeds all the more easier.

Congrats on your first lottie Crash.....take it easy (as everyone told me when I got started)

I just love that shed too and what a lovely spot.... I've not got one at all, which is an absolute pain altho I do keep a few odd tools in a neighbours but loads of stuff in boot of my car!!

I can't see the pics.  What's happened?  Anyway I will imagine what your shed looks like  ;D  All the best with the new plot.  Don't try and weed it all at once - they only come back  :)

Wow, I would love your shed, it looks like a hobbit home and the shade will keep it cool.  Enjoy your allotment and all the hopes and hard work that come with it, this time next year you will have some good crops.

Hi Lorna,
If you right click your mouse on the "X "and select show picture it should come up as you are pics enabled on this site. ;)

I'm now looking forward to going back to work for a rest... I had planned to stay longer but I could hardly walk. d**n tiring this exercise lark. When I can muster up the energy I'll go out to the van and get my camera. Just going to chill with a cuppa.

Somebody wake me in an hour or two...

It doesn't look much in the picture, but I reckon you've put a lot of hard work digging into it and strimmed back a lot of weeds :o, well done. ;) ;D
Title: Re: Waiting for daylight!
Post by: Crash on September 07, 2005, 22:43:15
Roy it was hard work. All with my own hands.... No strimmers round here.  :( I wish I had all the tools. I'd kill right now for a rotavator! I have another pic showing the skip, it's very full!
Title: Re: Waiting for daylight!
Post by: Roy Bham UK on September 07, 2005, 23:39:58
Then my advice is, Don't go bull at a gate, if you don't have the tools to help take off the strain, then take it a bit at a time, there ain't no rush especially now, my back is aching just thinking what you have achieved, take it easy. :)

It's bettwe to take it slowly and get as many of the perennial weeds out as possible rather than going too fast and getting overwhelmed next summer.

O.K. Premtal & Roy.   I know I am dumb BUT where and what is the "X" that you are telling me to click on. ??  Was there a pic on the post from Crash at  22.14 yesterday, if so I haven't got it!! Why am I having this trouble I always get other members pics.  Thanks for any help. Lorna.

Lorna, there should be a square with an "X" in it under the text that Say's "I konw your all waiting for a progress report"  ;D If you can see it then follow one of the instructions above. ;)

BTW your Avatar has an "X" in it as I can't see an image there either ??? ;D

This is really buggine me!! I have just come back on forum and the pic from Crash is now there!! There wasn't a box with a cross in it before. Regarding my Avatar I haven't loaded a pic or anything. Also shouldn't my profile have "send this person private message" listed? And why is n/a entered against some peoples age and others show their age?  I did put my DOB on my profile and I assumes that would enter in the age space? Will have to get my tech chap to sort foe me. (My son!!) It has become a bit of a joke, he would often tell me things about his "car" and "sign makers" forums.. Now Mum says "Oh on mygardening forum" Best wishes Lorna.

Lorna   Don't get bugged by little red x's or anything so unimportant  ;D  In the scheme of things it doesn't matter a fig.  I know you want a gleg of his shed but hey you can always imagine what it's like.  That's what I did  ;D  So doctor's orders are to stop worrying about computers which were specifically designed to drive us all berserk by the way and just look at the pics in the gallery instead.  I don't think there were any red crosses in there the last time I looked  :)

Wardy (I'm just chillin today as I can't be bothered to do much)  I had a tiring day yesterday what with winning accolades and such and need to recharge my batteries.  Was up at 6 cooking flaming sausages so I deserve a rest  :)

Wardy How right you are!! It's just that when somebody gives me a simple instruction ie. click on th"X" and there is no  bl---y  "X"  I think what now..LOL.?.10year old Joshua sometimes tries to do something and asks ME for help!! I usually say "Maybe you can't do that on this PC, wait until Uncle John comes!!"  Uncle John (my son) is the guy who built the whole thing for me when  (late) husband asked him to do it as a surprise Xmas present..I never let it get to me in a serious way but boy I do get lots of pleasure from the whole thing. Hope your sausages were not TOO flaming ;D Take care and hope youi are enjoying a rest. Lorna.

Your Avatar relates to ...

"Japsport Trade Services
Unit 3.    38 Whittlesey Road,
March, Cambs PE15 0AG"

n/a may mean "no age" or "not applicable"
Hmm! about the "Send this person a private message" I would check with Dan about that. :-\

Roy SUGAR SUGAR SUGAR!! That stops me from swearing ;D I have just typed a reply to you and some how deleted it instead of posting.. Thanks  for replying to my post. I assumed n/a meant not applicable but thought that if your DOB was entered then your age would come up. Avatar   AHA  That is one of my sons business names, I think maybe that goes back to when he posted some pics for me to gallery (I didn't have a clue) . I said I was going to post a pic for my Avatar but have never done it.
Regarding PM's I have received and sent  PM's . I have sent PM's to kind members who sent me seeds. Will get that sorted., before bothering Dan I will ask my son to make sure I haven't done anything stupid (Wouldn't surprise me ;D)  Best wishes Lorna

I was back at work today and missed my lottie! I think the past few days hard labour has caught up with me, I've just had an hour and a half fast asleep on the sofa.

Another way of seeing the photos is to have a look at our homepage. I post the pics there then copy the link into here. I must warn you that our home page ( http://crashndonna.blogspot.com/) is a place for us to let off steam and sometimes swear once or twice!

I haven't been up to mine since last weekend and I am suffering severe withdrawal - or that might be the ciggies that I am trying (woefully at mo) to kick.

Me neither RC although I went weeding our group's wallflowers in the pouring rain.  Must be insane.  It wouldn't occur to weed my own plot in the d**n rain:(  Needed to get back there today but still pouring.  I sent the OH round to the lotties with my seed order.  Ordered me spuds and next seasons veggie seeds.  Got some seeds yesterday from the swop shop on here as well.  So I have done some useful work while it's been raining  :)

Hope you can keep off the fags.  I gave up fags but started drinking instead and now I'm a big fat pig whereas I was thin when I smoked  ;D  Now drink too much!  Just swopped one vice for another.  Glad I don't smoke though  :)
All the dosh you save on fags can go on seeds and sundries for your plot  :)

OW I've just done my back in!

All day (well most of it) I've been down the lottie, working hard chopping back my rasp canes clearing and tidying up the plot. Then I tie two pallets together to make a compost bin and my back went.

Ah well cider cider cider... Just to kill the pain!

Lorna, you can't see the, "send this person private message" btton because the boards don't let you send a message to yourself, I can see the button under your posts, it is just you that can't. It is the same on mine, and as far as I am aware eveyone elses.

As for the crosses, well I can't see the pictures either, nor any red crosses -- I don't know why, but I do know that you're not alone.
