Hi Adam, is it just veg seeds you are after or would you like other flower seeds as well as the sweet peas?

Hi adam, I've just collected some Dwarf Cornflower seeds, mixed colours, and Nasturtium seeds, Empress of India and Alaska mixed.

Empress of India has dark green leaves and red flowers and is clump forming, Alaska has mid green leaves with splodges of cream and red, dark orange or gold flowers, also clump forming.

Might have Dwarf Sunflowers, Red Sunflowers, English Marigold and Sweet Peas. Think my first crop of Dwarf Sunflower seeds have failed  :( will check and let you know later.

First crop of Dwarf Sunflower seeds are a complete failure  :-[ Still got two more plants that have still to set seed though so here's hoping for success this time. Still waiting for other seeds to ripen. Nasturtiums almost ready.

adam13, I've just noticed on another thread you talk about selling your seeds on Ebay. Not really in the spirit of things if you take seeds from members here with the intention to sell them on Ebay :o

You were very young then when you started selling seeds on ebay in 2003

You must also be a very accomplished seed collector if you've collected seeds from all that lot that you're selling on ebay

I notice that you're a seller on the Buy Now which is mostly used by businesses

You don't need a credit card to buy or sell or eBay (I've been both for over two years and have never registered a cc) but ..... you do need to be 16 or over to sell so quite right Kitty, it's back to the drawing board of this young man LOL

I think this is very sad and Adam would be well advised to leave A4All alone.

There are people out there who do struggle on pensions or low income to buy their seeds so that they have enough food to eat - and who do not sell seeds on ebay.

Fortunately I am not among this group, but I am very aware of people on our allotments who come into this category, and I am sure that there are many here too.

I have only just read this thread, having had it drawn to my attention by another member.

I am used to meeting beggars, living in Coventry, they are everywhere, and I often do the charitable thing and pass on some loose change. I have busked myself, when times were less sunny, so I could afford a beer. But I have always been resistant to aggressive begging, ie being accosted when unprepared.

I was a bit surprised to find this situation in the chat room last night, and whilst I did not feel anxious personally, I think it may need to come to Dan's attention (if he is not already aware) if it persists, as some members WILL feel uncomfortable and avoid the chatroom etc.

I am only speaking my mind here, I do not wish to offend ANYONE on this site, as Icy said to me in another thread - 'life is too short ...'.

Am I alone in feeling this way?

The chat room, well adam just kept asking me for seeds, when I told him I wasn't interested, he started on the sob story. Eventually I just left in disgust.

I do not think he is who he appears ...

Apparently, supersprout, lottie and georgie were in there before me, but had gone when I got there.

Yes, I am sure by now Dan has picked up on this thread ... he is too proud of this site to allow something like this to muddy the atmosphere (is that a mixed metaphor?), so I for one am not worried.

Lets hope this is the end of the matter.

I had left the chatroom before Adam arrived so I have no idea if his behaviour was unacceptable before Derek arrived.  I sent Dan a message when Adam's plea for seeds was first posted.  I was rather concerned that an alleged 13 year old was prepared to give out his name and address to complete strangers, and I asked Dan what the A4A policy was.  Still waiting for a reply...

There is an adam who says he is 13 wanting seeds potatoes and onion sets, from the T&M guestbook. He, according to an earlier post there, got 95% of any seeds he wanted free from Suttons. He keeps begging on there every couple of weeks or so.

Just checked adam13's profile and the email address matches up to the begging messages on the T&M guestbook.  :o >:(

He's no 13 year old kid.  If he is he's not wet behind the ears is he.  Right little empire builder.  You have to watch yourself on ebay as there are some pigs on there.  I thought the postage charged was fair after they'd weighed the parcel being sent.  Not at all.  They flog stuff cheap then charge a flaming fortune to post it.  I asked someone why they charge me £5 to post something which cost 19p   He told me I was an idiot and that it's a case of buyer beware.  He's right I was an idiot but I believed people were honest.  What a mug?

Having said that I bought some china crockery and it was all received, beautifully packed and the postage was exactly as stated  :)

I've been reading thios thread with great interest.I'm afraid I take things at face value & trust people. I hope that I continue to do that because despite examples otherwise, most people are fair.

You have to watch yourself on ebay as there are some pigs on there.  I thought the postage charged was fair after they'd weighed the parcel being sent.
According to my husband who spends alot of time on Ebay most people are straight but you do have to look at the postage carefully. Some sellers inflate the postage because that isn't suject to Paypal charges.

It reminds me of "Can you spare some change for a cuppa, guv?"

I have met one member from here (because it is such a small world!) and glad the mint worked out well. I have sent and received seeds to/from a few nice people here and have lost track of whether I have sent or received more (not that it matters to me). But then, I have got to know them a bit through posts and messenger and feel that they have become my friends. Reminds me - if it stops raining, I need to get to the post office to send 2 lots off.

Thinking of ordering some hairy balls - anyone want some but too afraid to order?!!! Madmum - would be quite a feature in a school - can hear the sniggers already!

Hey steady on there, I resemble that remark ;D

My email is acegardener@whatever.  Ace has been my nickname for years in the biking world and the reason I use heritage is that it was the model of the bike I was riding when I first logged on this site and it was easy to remember.

Now to label that little scrote adam as ACE is unfair on us real criminals gardeners so please stop now or I will be sending the boys around. ;D

As this is the swap forum I am now going to my profile and try to swap my name from heritage to ACE

Is such vilification of a 13 year old really justified ??!!

To be honest, responses from adults on this thread make me feel a lot more disheartened than the child's plea for seeds.  :(

Can't say I disagree, hence the "witch hunt" post from Monty Python!

Ah! but is he/she a 13 year old? or just a rip off merchant of a more mature age that wants to strip us of our generosity to make a quick buck? We will never know but we do know that this parasite feeds off of our backs. ;)

The sad thing about this thread, and situation is, it will put people of swapping seeds with others.  I have swapped lots, sometimes with people who I have hardly ever spoken to, but hope that my seeds grow for them and bring them the same happiness (and harvests  :P) that they bring me.

I think it is time to lay this whole thread to rest and for us all to get on with planning our autumn seed catalogue reading bonanza!

Which reminds me.  Dibber your seeds are in the post honest!  ;D

EJ  my Mr Fothergills just dropped on the mat and I was reading it whilst eating porridge and drinking tea.  Dropped my cup of tea - it's soaked and all the pages are stuck together  ;D

No sign of me Dobies brassicas.  I'm beginning to worry as I ordered mine earlier than most peeps and you all seem to have yours  :'(
