Title: A Crie de cour
Post by: Palustris on December 07, 2003, 17:15:34
Pardon my French. If you can go to the Beeb and look at Rosmary Kayes question on Bulbs on Over the Garden Fence. Tell me that a. My advice is not wrong as far as it goes and b. that the other posting is as odd as it seems to me. Please!!!!!

I have just cut off the dead and extremely slimy leaves from 1 (ONE) clump of Crocosmia. I got fed up counting at 50 stems. Imagine painting each one with white paint. And that is only one clump, we have dozens. Blimey we have had enough trouble today getting paint on every bit of the dining room ceiling.
The answer in Lily seeds was almost as odd. Shades of DC.
Mind I cannot even spell the French for heart. Got 20% in O level French  40 years ago. Could not spell in French then either.
Thank you Hugh. I never watched the program, but get the reference. Mad or dead?

Then why didn`t you entitle it Clamor cordis - everyone would have known what that meant!

DEAD; very dead - about 35 years if I remember rightly, so almost certainly going off a bit by now.

Cos it is Sunday and I have been out in the garden and I am frozen stiff and have had one glass of wine (which is one more than I should have) and it has gone straight to my head and bladder in equal quantities and I did not think of it. Right!
No I am not a member of AA but I am just allergic to alcohol.

....... I can picture all these little garden germs, armed with little bottles of turps, patrolling the gardens of England, ready to remove blobs of white emulsion from plant stems so they can crawl in and fester to their hearts content!
.......... Could you not colour-coordinate the paint to the flower colour and therefore create a colourful winter display?

from http://www.bromfieldhall.co.uk/marty.htm

"Marty Hopkirk . . . an only child, he was just eight when his father, Larry, who was a policeman, died during an ambush that went fatally wrong. Marty grew up to be a vain, childish and quite selfish person who thought a lot of himself…it's just a shame that he was such a twit! (my emphasis - and yours???)[/u]

His big desire was to be a performer and he'd often tell anyone who'd listen just how wonderful he was at singing and dancing…especially tap!" (and growing bulbs!!!!!)[/u]

ROFL - All best, Gavin

You`ve got the right Marty Hopkirk, Gavin. The Marty Hopkirk who was the deceased private detective in the T.V. series `Randall & Hopkirk (deceased)` during the late 60`s - went round wearing a white suit and generally b*ggering everything up - he was a prat in that as well.
