Title: Donations to the Site - Part 2
Post by: Admin aka Dan on July 28, 2005, 19:24:37
Hi all,

Well I have been looking into the options for funding the site, and I have come up with this ...

I am going to continue with the current model, where everyone has access to everything, apart from picture posting, but am going to reduce the cost of adding picture posting to,

10 Pounds Per Year

A fantastic bargain I'm sure you will agree!

I have reduced the price in the hope of more people signing up!

You can donate either via paypal, to admin@allotments4all.co.uk, or via the link at the top of the screen, or via cheque to

--

The other way of supporting the site is via the affiliate links on the front page.

If you are going to spend money on one of the websites listed, go via the link, and the site gets a small amount from the shop for the referral.

Any questions, please ask.

Dan

One problem is knowing if one is up-to-date. Is there an alarm bell?

£10 on the way; I've actually got a decent digital camera now so I should be able to got some pics. Not that my plot is fit to be seen, what with a combination of work and illness keeping me away! Please everyone else donate too.

Tim,

There will be !

Don't worry everyone who has donated so far will be moved to the new price scale in a very fair way.

Robert,

Thanks.

Cheers

Dan,  I feel like a bit of a hanger onner now!!  Didn't realise we were supposed to pay for the priveledge and have been ading pictures etc to my hearts content.

Have I somehow bypassed your controls,  should I have registered differently?

Could you maybe post some instructions or whatever for this site is easily worth supporting for you do a great job.

What's been the problem the last couple of days? Day before yesterday the site was down for hours, and there was a message about someone trying to hack it, yesterday it was down again for some time. I hope no damage was done, whatever it was.

No you have not bypassed any controls,  anyone can link a photo stored on another site - such as photobucket, people who donate can also upload pictures directly to this site, a much easier process.

Cheers

So do I need to re-register Dan ( :o)  or simply send you off a donation and leave the rest to you?    Iain

Iain,

No need to re-register, or make a donation (although I will not stop you  ;D).

You can continue to post pics the way you do now, or donate and use the in built facility.

Hello Dan. Like a few others I wasn't aware of donations. Have been posting pics, photobucket was mentioned some time ago so that is the way I went. SORRY. Cheque will be to you within next few days.. I am not skint LOL my Grandson (mechanic) is doing work on my car and as he is so busy I said I could manage without car for few days..
Just like to say what a brilliant site. My son set up a similar site for sign makers and I know it took a lot of his time in the beginning. Berst wishes Lorna.

Like many others I only recently discovered that it was possible to make donations & indeed it was necessary to post pictures. (Not got there yet you see. Perhaps it would help to have a mention of this on the welcome email?

My tenner is on its way via paypal.

No need to worry about photos - I'm happy to link in with my own sites anyway.

I've never paid for a web forum or service before but I really like it here and do not want it to perish for lack of funds...

My cheque is also in the post as of today Dan. You have my apologies for not paying earlier, but I actually felt guilty spending ten pounds on myself.

Like others, I am not specifically interested in taking advantage of the photo facility, but if it is there, then I will use it I guess.

This site is DEFINITELY first class.

Thank you

Hi all. Re posting pics - a recent pic poster, and Professor of Dimwittery to boot, the easiest way for me was to save my pics as jpg files then attach them to my messages.
Title: Re: Donations to the Site - Part 2
Post by: lorna on August 12, 2005, 22:20:17
Hi Amazin. I save all my photos jpg and resize to 500 they are all stored in "My received files". When somebody  mentioned photobucket on here my son showed me how to put the  the pics on here. I actually  mastered that LOL and so I hope Dan's method is easy as well. Being a "thicko" where computers are concerned I am lucky that  I have an excellent tech adviser (son John) I just shout HELP  ;D Regards Lorna.

Hiya Dan

Great site!:D  Have sent you a nice crispy cyber tenner via Paypal for the year's photo uploading.  Looks like most people don't realise that it costs money, sweat and tears to run a forum like this. :-\   Well, mebbe not the tears!  Keep up the good work, mate!  ;)

Hi Dan - I live in Belgium so can't pay by paypal or cheque but I can get a cheque from a relly next time I'm in the UK which should be the end of October.   I can't see the address to post it to and I really would like to start posting photos some day soon.

Could you send me a PM with the address to be sure I don't miss it?

Thanks,

Obbelix

Hi Dan,

I have just sent £10 via paypal.
All I have to do now is learn how to post them!
Title: Re: Donations to the Site - Part 2

It is very easy Ani.  You click on "additional options" and a browse section comes up so you can access your pics in your own files and you just click which pic you want.  As long as they are within the 265 kb you will be able to post them. Even I can do it, so you won't have any problems. Look forward to viewing your pics soon.  :) busy_lizzie

Dan
I have pictures stored on my computer which I would like to consider sharing  and therefore need to pay the membership fee but two problems -
What is Paypal and how do I use it?
I am a bit of a computer thickie. How do I 'post' a picture. It took me ages to work out how to use Photobucket on the BBC site and I have probably forgotten. What system do I use on A4A and how ?
