I kept a log on my website, but then didn't get round to updating it half the time! Oh well. Didn't get round to writing down what was sown/planted/harvested after April this year (worse than last year :( )

Hmm - my website last updated 14th April (though I have written more stuff for it, just a little teeny weeny bit, but not uploaded it)

Very nice blogs peeps.

The allotments are so big!  They look better than backyard vege patches.

And the growth fairly fast in such a short time.  Really looks like you all know what you are doing.

Post by: undercarriage plan on September 14, 2005, 21:23:52
Good evening peeps. Having just had a disconcerting conversation with my OH, I have suddenly realized that I have a cerebral dysfunction! I have just spent the last hour renaming my passport, my bank accounts and my socks because I thought my name was Kate Goria. However, I am now enlightened and have my head stuck in the dustbin, because I have seen the light, and realize that Kate Goria in fact not a spontaneous renaming of myself, but, in fact the German/Albanian/Slovakian ( you choose!) word for category..... I know feel like a huge cucumber, and realize I have made stupidity an extreme sprot! And am now heading for the meths......Thank you for your time. Lottie  ;D

Cheap though..the meths, I mean......Have decided to stick to my thickie's website, which is in the little world thingy, under my addy! Went hitailing it back there after humiliating blog experience...

Post by: newchangeling on September 16, 2005, 13:58:02
I've not posted anything on A4A for a while, but I wanted to say that I've enjoyed looking at new blogs that I haven't seen before - I will have to have more of a look when I have more time.  Plus, I actually feel I've got something to contribute, for once!

I have a blog at http://allotment.humanlint.com.  It's a bit of a joint project between me and my partner as I enjoy growing stuff and he's a web site designer.  Having a blog means we actually spend some time together!

That said, I'm better at blogging than allotmenting...

Clare.

Erm, Dibs.......not sure where the link is.....but did a little sketch of Multiveg's hairy balls ( I'm sorry, don't know how else to phrase this..), the name of my site.....and the cucumber, and kinda drew my own conclusions......Not completely daft!!! Lottie  ;D

This is definitely the thread to cheer oneself up laughing after a manure day at work.

I need to redo my blog links page again it seems...  once again out of date as there's loads more of you!  I've had an allotment diary since May 2001 and am still more or less keeping on top of it and the plot itself. I've noticed I get a lot of hits on Mondays when I try to remember to update it!  Lottie - I have never gone near blogging software as it didn't exist when I started. Doesn't matter - having a normal website with a blog works as well even if it does end up looking a lot simpler. And I get to do all sorts of other link pages too.

Moonbells ,that's excellent!!! Problem with mine is that it has 8/9 pages...what to do after then??? Stop lottying? Not an option, so I really need to find another way. But after my first brush with bloggin', kind of on the concerned side at min! But excellent blogg and lovely pics, well done you!! Lottie  ;D

Lottie, I'm a complete beginner at blogging etc, but 'blogger' (just google for it' seems pretty idiot proof. It's taken me a month to post pictures, but that's me being crap rather than the site!

I've updated my website links page as to lottie blogs.  Before, I had active and non-active blogs, now I've got a third section for A4A members' blogs (whether active or not) with the username too. So far I've only put up lottie blogs, not personal blogs with occasional sections on lotties.

Anyone object? (It's not gone live yet)

<moonbells wakes up and notices she's not read this thread in a while>

M$ word I'm afraid! Ages ago I did a 1cm to 1m scale grid of the plot and grouped all the little squares, then added in the permie features (and grouped them) and then added the beds as they were done each year. Now they tend to be permie bed locations too which makes it easier to change each year.  You group the lot, then finally do free-floating lettering boxes with the labels in, and colour code them for each veg type.

Then at the season end, you just play with your mouse and the labelled boxes, moving them all to new positions. I keep previous years' plans so I can check the rotation is working.  I've just shifted from 3 year to 5 year, so things just got more complicated!
