Title: First pickings
Post by: wardy on July 08, 2005, 10:50:09
Got my first pickings of onions, broad beans, garlic, peas and carrots yesterday, oh and mint  :)  I was like a kid chomping greedily on everything  ;D   It was really cold here last night so I made soup out of my  lotty veggies and my OH and I sat and slurped our way through a whole panful, all soaked up with crusty bread. Yum  :)

Can't wait to start picking my spuds

This is my first year of harvesting from my plot as last year it was just a jungle but it's great to see produce growing after all that hard slog of last year.

Well done Wardy!!!  Yet to sample the pleasure of own produce (being a plot owner of 6 weeks) but great to hear of other's successes.  And a big pan of soup with crusty bread - what better way to enjoy the fruits of your labour!   :)

Sounds marvellous Wardy. Haven't you done a lot of this no-dig with a dodgy back. It's an impressive effort without an injury, let alone with one  :)

Well done -only way I can eat broadies is if I grow them myself. Check out some of Gavin's recipes for them.
