On my second plot now, first 'family' plot we had for several very happy, rewarding and exhausting years!  I am looking forward to having this plot for many years to come!   ;D

We had the first Lottie in 1982 when we lived in Reading, but it was really my husbands domain.  All I every did was go over to it and dig the produce up and bring it home.  The children were small then and unlike a lot of the superwoman on this site (who fill me with admiration, juggling children and home and allotment) I didn't have time for anything else.

This present Allotment I got last February and it is my name down on the Plotholders Documents.  I've done a lot of the planning, and am now totally involved in the digging and maintaining it, although to be fair, my Husband Mike has done huge amounts of work there too, but I always think of it as my Pride and Joy.    :D busy_lizzie

Hi Rd, We lived on Mays Lane, in Earley, and our allotment was just over the motorway on the boundary of Woodley, near the Woods , the Lake and  the Thatchers Pub.

It was incredibly green and fertile after being used to the cold windy North East, and the rather wild landscape, and we were amazed to see people growing melons and tomatoes and grapes outside when we first moved.  The summers seemed almost tropical to us, but of course that was before global warming and since then even we have experienced quite a few super hot dry summers up here.     ;D  busy_lizzie
