Ooh!  Lovely puddy tat piccies!  DD, yours looks very similar to one of mine which I had to rehouse!  He was called Stuff (had two, Stuff and Nonsense)!  He lived up to his name, ate like a horse ;D

Hi Kate. Guess what, we have two cats as well. They are sisters and look almost identical, most people can't tell them apart but their characters are totally different. Both are named Rose (Turkish and Dutch).

What a soppy lot!!
Hate them, but daughter keeps bringing in sickly strays, which have to be bosomed by the AGA for weeks before they can fend for themselves.
And the vet's fees!!

But I have to show you her favourite - Korshka which, in Russia, guess, is CAT! Father was there (one war before me) and named his dogs Sebatchka, Mishka etc. So? Died of aids. The cat. We now have BIRDS! = Tim

PS - where's Cleo??

Tim, have been mega dog lover since childhood.  Hated cats, the only ones we had then were ferral!  Used to dogsit for a friend who had albino cat who always sat on my lap!  Must have known couldn't stand her but couldn't bring myself to throw her off.

Years later, ended up taking one surplus offspring to help out a friend and a stray to help out another friend.  And, at a later date, after those two were gone, took on Stuff and Nonsense (male and female siblings).  Always bring them up just as I would dogs!  Have learned over the years that they have just as much character and affection as dogs.  Only downside is the hunting!

WOW!

What lovely cats you all have!

Cant beat my old lady though, but I'm just biased.

Bet you cant guess how old she is from the photo

Whatever your guess, she acts like a cat half it most of the time! Completely rules the house (as they do).

I've started a new thread in 'the shed', so that we can talk about our pets in general. I've given a little background on me a nd cats there just to start off.
Title: Re: Our Pets
Post by: legless on January 14, 2004, 19:52:21
yeah, the ones they have in zoos in turkey. they love to swim allegedly but mine just wallow in the bath a bit - buzz lies semi submerged on your belly, sophie plays with your toes and dawni has to sit in the sink until you get out and then she'll mess about in the bath for a while  ;D

richard -12?

As I've said there, Richard, that's now 3 pet sites.

I have a feeling that we're finally going to disappear up our own divergences - for want of a better word! = Tim
Title: Re: Our Pets
Post by: Garden Manager on January 15, 2004, 01:00:10
Sorry Tim.

I shall now try to stop the extra threads and concentrate any pet related posts to the 'Pets Corner' board. Just for you!

Maybe  I could have a special one for pet hedgehogs -  or is that 'wild life'! = Tim
Title: Re: Our Pets
Post by: Garden Manager on January 15, 2004, 13:50:57
Depends on how tame it is and how much it relies on you for food etc.

If it is tame(ish) and you regularly feed it then I SUPPOSE you could call it a pet. Then you could start a thread in Pets Corner.  Call it 'other pets' or 'unusual pets' something like that.

If not well lets talk about it in the wildlife forum.

Perhaps if the three pet boards is a problem perhaps Dan could move these threads/boards into pets corner?

Just joking - only had it in the house once when it was in trouble. Like the mole - but that was dead! = Tim

I think they shouldn't have milk because they can't digest it properly......I think....I may be wrong....but I am sure I heard Rolf or someone saying that.
Title: Re: Our Pets
Post by: teresa on January 16, 2004, 11:32:02
I always thought it was fresh water and cat or dog food to feed them.
Title: Re: Our Pets
Post by: tim on January 16, 2004, 13:07:24
Correct - I believe - milk gives them the 'runs' - the last thing you want on your 'patio'? = Tim
Title: Re: Our Pets
Post by: aquilegia on January 16, 2004, 13:41:16
cow's milk is very hard to digest for a lot of creatures.

I love hedgehogs. Wish we had some in our garden.

(They make the funniest noises when they are... ahem... making baby hedgehogs!)

How on earth did we get from pets to Hedgehogs? ???

Nice though they are they are not exactly pets are they. Perhaps this discusion should be continued on the wildlife forum.  ;D

Its all YOUR fault you know Tim.  ;)

Hi, this is my first attempt at posting, it's taken me several hours to get the photo on here!. This is my cat Billy, as you can see he is a bit larger than your average cat, he weighs 22lbs.
I also have another cat called Benny who is normal size.
One of their favourite places is my greenhouse in the summer.  :)
