Title: Any Ideas for Tasty Summer Cabbages
Post by: George the Pigman on January 22, 2015, 19:41:02
Each year I grow Spring, Summer and Autumn/Winter cabbages and quite frankly the summer ball-heads turn out to be boring. I have tried a number of varieties but they all produce anaemic white cabbage.
Can anyone suggest a summer cabbage variety that gives a tasty brassica like I get with spring cabbage and savoys?

George, I always go for Hispi. Good to go as greens or hearted and will produce for most of the year

I grow Guardian which suits us.

Do you grow Tuscan kale? If you get it started early, you can pick the leaves from late August at least.
