Post by: gertie50 on September 15, 2014, 17:29:58
Hello All,

Just wanted to share some wonderful news that I received today.
Ivor, a guide dog puppy I puppy walked, has become a fully qualified guide dog.
He is working with a lady in Devon.
Feeling so proud.

Thank you for your kind words Jayb,

It was a long road for him. he lost his focus with the first partner he had.
But he's come good in the end, Bless him.

That's Brilliant news Gertie, animals bring so much comfort and independence to the unsighted and also to frail patients in hospitals.
When I was volunteering @ St Peters I used to greet the Dog Society at the main door and show them around to the wards so that
Kids or elderly could pat and stroke their assorted dogs, its a fantastic way of communicating to sick folks when they are feeling down about life.

well done you   !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you Gazza1960.

Animals have amazing healing powers, they just don't know it.

PS
I love your recipes, keep up the good work.

Good for you for doing such work, it's little wonder that you feel so proud.  I've the greatest admiration for everyone concerned with guide dogs. Not forgetting, of course, the wonderful dogs themselves.

Well done.  It must be difficult giving up a puppy, but so good to feel they are doing such a great job.

What a lovely looking dog, so shiny you could almost see your face.

He is a lovely looking dog. Will you be involved in training another puppy?

Hello galina,

I've puppy walked for Guide dogs since 2009, walking 3 of their pups. I also board pups for them when other puppy walkers go on holiday. Hopefully I'll be in a position to puppy walk for them again next year.

My friend has lost most of her sight, and I love dogs.  Have just donated to dogs for the blind, keep calling it blind dogs. (silly me). Speaking to the man on the phone and he said that they do a lot of work for blind people, not only dogs which is good. Apparently they have a machine that can read a letter, so will be interested to get the information to see if any of will help my friend, which I doubt, as sadly she had a stroke and is not talking too much sense at present. Animals are so loyal and trusting, well done to you.  :sunny:
