At the moment even Moneymaker would be welcome... we have a few but nowhere near enough..

I've gathered, from reading on A4A, that there is some sort of stigma attached to Moneymaker tomatoes?
My Father-in-law swears by them and they always seem to do ok in our greenhouses (apart from blight this year of course)
I can say that they aren't nearly as tasty as others we grow (mainly ones given to us by our Italian Neighbour Dario) but they don't do bad considering.
I don't eat them raw though, so can't vouch for the taste. I use them in sauces/cooked.
And as Saddad says: ANY tomato would be welcome this year :(

It's Cleo who doesn't like Moneymaker. I only grow cherry tomatoes so I couldn't possibly comment.

Despite what others may say :) There's nothing at all wrong with Moneymaker tomatoes ..
The key word with them is reliablilty ..Very resistant to greenback . Fairly uniform in shape and size...Nice open plant to work on .Pollinate easy.. Good colour .. Real english salad tomatoe taste..

Here! Here! growmore
Over the years I have tried many and I keep coming back to 'Moneymaker' as a banker.
I try a few other varieties each year but at least a third of my plants will be Moneymaker, for as you say; reliability!
-
But....but...but they're not nice! :-X

Tis indeed I who does not like MM. OK they are reliable but so are many other varieties and to my taste have a far better flavour.
But please everyone-grow what you like. My dislike of them is as much my signature tune and standing joke as any objective evaluation.

Quite right Cleo!! ;D
Each to there own taste!!
I prefer bitter sweet rather than sweet tomatoes this is why I don't grow cherry varieties.
Glad you didn't take offence, just my sense of humour.
It was the fact that it was so big for a Moneymaker that was more my point.

Tee Gee-that sure is big ;D And I never take offence from those I respect-had TG been GG I may have taken another view ;)
