Title: Walsall Rd allotments - Plant Sale and Cream Tea
Post by: Squash64 on May 04, 2010, 06:41:00
We are having our Plant Sale and Cream Tea on Saturday, May 15th, 12:00 till 2ish.

The plant sale is for our funds and the cream tea for Macmillan.

Plenty of room for parking, and lots of cover in case of rain.

If any of you live near enough it would be lovely to see you there.

I've grown some Minibel tomatoes for our plant sale (this Saturday) They are a dwarf variety and are only about 4inches high and flowers are starting to appear.  I'm just wondering how much I could charge for them.

Weedy little things in Wilkinson were 99p, mine are nice sturdy plants.

Would £1 each be too much?

Yes, fingers crossed that the weather forecast is correct.  So long as it doesn't rain I will be happy.

Sorry Shirl, but I haven't even sown squash for myself yet.  I ran out of room in the greenhouses so didn't even do any for the plant sale.  I'll be sowing them next week and I can do some for you if you can get over to collect them in a couple of weeks.  Let me know tomorrow.

I just hope people buy the toms, they look tiny next to 'normal' ones.
Title: Re: Walsall Rd allotments - Plant Sale and Cream Tea - RESULT!

I needn't have worried - the customers couldn't get enough of them!  I must have sold over 40 and have orders for more.

All the Bangladeshi chillies went too.

The slowest things to sell were tomatoes which people hadn't labelled with variety.

Crowds of people came and the total of the Plant Sale and Cream Tea is over £700.

I was there from 7 this morning till 5 this afternoon and my feet are killing me now!  (it was worth it though)

Thanks everyone  :)

Deb, I'm glad the Angelica is doing well, it makes a fabulous plant but will seed itself all over the place if you're not careful.  Mind you, it will give you lots of plants to sell at the next plant sale!
