Ive been persuaded to enter a local show in August. Never shown anything in my life, has no competitive bone in my body But thought here goes largest onion and longest bean, Would i need special beans or sets and where would i get them and what should i look for and if i do manage to source any, is it too late to grow now as the shows august the3rd

You are too late for the largest onion as most will have had them on since December or Jan. Longest bean should be OK timewise (just) but you will need specific varieties to produce the longest beans - Enorma for example. Not that I have entered a show before!!
