Title: Is it to late for newly set pumpkins?
Post by: Reetnproper on October 06, 2008, 19:31:21
Hi guys,

This is my second year of Pumpkin growing and I've taken off my 3 ripe pumpkins - 1 now eaten as a fantastic soup, the other 2 in storage for my 2 little girls Halloween lanterns. However, I still have 3 pumpkins growing.

They were late flowering but one is now the size of an orange and the other 2 are about the size of a large plum. Can anyone tell me if these are likely to continue on to maturity or is it now too late in the season?

Thanks in advance.

Chances are the frost will kill off the plants before they have time to grow any more. I cut all mine today as the leaves had been frosted last night. My smallest were about 6" diameter.
