Title: Turnip tops
Post by: davholla on September 10, 2019, 08:23:53
I planted turnips in March and nothing happened.  Is it worth trying the same seed now to get tops?  Or should I buy new?
I have never done it before so it could have been me.  Any advice?

Sprout a few on damp kitchen roll. Buy some if you wish.(SOMEWHERE ELSE!) Either way they would serve as a micro green for the winter months, if they grow

Great idea - just damp kitchen roll in good sun?

Yes sow them.  Chances are that you will still get some turnips, if the seeds are ok.  Then the rest will overwinter, preferably with minimum cover, just a single layer of fleece will do it.  And then the turnips that did not make a decent root, will make a lot of greens in spring.
