Title: wine and slugs
Post by: GrannieAnnie on March 28, 2011, 07:24:26
Seeing the beer and slug subject reminded me I created a bad batch of wine. Would slugs go for that as well?

They are attracted by the yeast/fermentation smell so possibly...
It must be bad if you are reduced to feeding it to slugs...  :-X

Why not turn it into wine vinegar instead?

The best fish n chips vinegar I've ever tasted was made from a wine kit that went a bit wrong. Just add a glug of vinegar to the wine and plug the top with cottonwool. Leave somewhere for a couple of months.

There are a couple gallons of this stuff  ::) (when I make a mistake I do it BIG).
I'd have to learn to make and eat fish n chips.......or wash windows with it???
I already have a gallon of basil wine which tasted so bad it is only fit for marinade
So maybe I'll try your suggestion, a small bottle of it.

I put some broccoli out for the slugs when drunk one evening - they didn't touch it. Poured some pinto grigio out for them and they loved it, extra slugs climbed up the metal stairs to my balcony to get at it ;D
