Title: Please what is this moth?
Post by: galina on July 30, 2016, 14:25:54
Have just spotted this moth or is it a small butterfly?  sitting on a potato plant.  About half an inch long, it is pretty small and I have never seen any others like it.  Does anybody know what it is please?  TIA   :sunny:

Mintmoth - interesting!  Thank you Hector and Flighty.  Yes it does look like it from the pictures you found Hector.  Really pretty and astonishing bright colours for a moth.  Was out during the day too, picture was taken at midday.  Thank you both for the identification!

You're welcome.  There are lots of moths that are just as colourful and pretty as butterflies and some, like this one, are day moths.

I am such a novice at moths and yes, very surprised they are not all grey and nocturnal.  Thanks again
