Has anyone yet received catalogues for next year? I know Simpsons is in production now. I'm already eager to deliberate what to grow next year.

The main ones are out, but my staples are Real Seeds and Baker Creek, and they aren't ready till Nov/Dec.
Suits me as by then I have more of an idea of what's coming my way from seed circles.

We didn't order from as many companies for this season so may well have fallen off the mailing list..
Just out of curiosity, do you keep the old catalogues?

I seem to have loads of catalogues; Moles, Tamar Organics, Garden Organics, Plants of Distinction, Mr Fothergills, Suttons and T&M are all staring at me from my winter browse pile.
I only keep the more unusual ones like Irish Seed Savers, HSL, Sandhill Preservation, Westcoast Seeds.

Had a quick look at Wallis who I wasn't familiar with. Just as you say, loads of choice and very reasonable prices. They do extra large packets and their standard packets are not stingy either. They tell you the seed count or gram, so you know exactly what to expect. :icon_cheers:

Never heard of Wallis before but ended up ordering! They do the yellow courgette Parador so had to have some of those...
Need to track down some more Cavili courgette seeds as well..... :sunny:

Are they reliable? Am not wanting to pick, but I always check squash entries and the Queensland Blue description doesn't read right. It's certainly not an F1 and is blue not green.

Always found them to be extremely reliable. Been using them for years since even before my first home computer, originally finding them from an ad in "Garden News!". :happy7:
The order is sent in good time for the sowing season, usually late October/November for an early order. The postage is not OTT either.
What I like about them is that for basic varieties, Bolthardy Beet, Pirmo Cabbage Little Gem Lettuce etc. you can get up to 500 seeds for 50p or less (1500 seeds in the case of Little Gem). And extra large packets should you need them.
But the F1 hybrids too are practically always a significantly lower price than with better known seed companies, coupled with the choice makes for an excellent purchase. For example forty cabbage varieties and twenty six cauliflowers. :happy7:
I agree the descriptions are not the fullest but a little online searching will usually unearth more.
Can't really comment about the Queensland Blue since I'm not familiar with that variety but up to now the variety ordered has been the one that grew. :happy7:

The order I placed on the 10th of October arrived today, so certainly quick! I really like their seed packets, no photos, clear germination, transplanting and habit information, generous seed numbers, I'm impressed so far! I'll report back about germination.......eventually! :blob7:

Wallis seeds are approximately 2 miles from where I live- they are very reliable and one of the cheapest seed companies. I usually drop my order off and collect it myself.

I am not sure why they send them. They go straight in the bin. Waste of paper and money. I tend to search online.
Scrap all the crap through my letter box and bring back paper bags for shopping.

I've no idea whether they do a paper catalogue, but Franchi (AKA Seeds of Italy) sell huuuuuuuuge packets at little more than the prices of other companies for a more normal amount. So if you want a decent market garden's worth of anything...
