Title: Ideas for screening, please.
Post by: caroline7758 on August 04, 2017, 20:14:21
Our neighbour is having an extension and although we didn't object, we now have a brick wall just on the other side of our fence. Given that my Kerria seems to be struggling (see previous post) can anyone suggest a plant which would quickly grow to about 7-8 ft but without roots that would be a problem as it would be quite close to the house. Preferably something evergreen but not too bulky as I don't want to block the view from my window!

You could consider a variegated ivy!

I've got a lot of ivy in my garden- maybe i could sneak some under the fence and up the wall!

Ivy is more than capable of doing its own sneaking.

Pyracantha.  Evergreen, spring blossom for nectar and autumn berries for bird food plus it provides shelter to birds and insects and will grow quickly if planted well and can be trained across a fence, wall or trellis.
