Title: My sad pumpkins
Post by: newbies on September 23, 2007, 20:56:11
I think I have powdery mildew on my pumpkin.  The leaves are all white and powdery looking, and the stem is looking black and dead.  There is no fruit on it anyway, it has flowered well, but not set into anything.  Shall I just rip it up and sulk, and if so, is it ok to compost?

Sounds like my problem. Planted quite a few of them and Butternut Squash. Flowered profusely and leaves look strong. Fruit seems to go mildewy and withers.

Rip it out and try again next year. I had no luck with squashes either this year.

Me too. Last year was better by far, on the strength of which I alloted more space to squash this year. What a waste. ::)....but next will be different again as Robert suggests.
