Post by: Digeroo on June 28, 2015, 10:41:11
It has been so long, I think I have forgotten. :tongue3:

Is this the rain they keep talking about?

:sad10: not very much here. The water butt fed from the house roof, which had been empty for weeks, only filled two 7 litre watering cans :BangHead:. Of my 6 butts,  4 are empty and will have to be filled with tap water - the pond seriously needs topping up too. Hey ho! Up goes my water bill again.

It was fairly light here too, sort of like gentle rain.

Been the same here, had a it of fret this morning but it barely slaked the dust.

Speaking of which I have a new family of Sparrows visiting my garden these days and they are using my flower beds as dust baths, such is the quality of my soil.

There are numerous little hollows (baths) dotted all over the beds which I obliterated when I was doing a bit of weeding in advance of the overnight rain that was promised and failed to materialise.

So no doubt the sparrows will be back again now that I have loosened the surface of the soil even more.

Like the rest of you my water barrels are empty and I have taken to collecting the run off from my combi boiler each time I run the hot water tap.

June has been a terrible month because it has been so dry and cold which is not the ideal conditions for developing plants in my opinion.

Then according to Countryfile tonight  we are going to have a heat wave next week, so just another bit more trial and retribution for us gardeners to cope with.

Happy gardening  :glasses9:

My water butts at the plot are getting low and I couldn't believe how dry the soil was when I dug up my first few spuds today- and that's even after a few heavy showers. But we've had so much windy weather as well this year, which must have dried things out even more.  :BangHead:
