Title: East facing windowsill
Post by: aquilegia on April 21, 2005, 13:21:34
Would an east facing windowsill provide enough light for seedlings?

I'm overflowing the two south-west facing ones.

Which of these would be happiest facing east (pretty much due east)?
tomatoes
sweet peppers
chilli peppers
aubergines
courgettes
squash
peas
french beans
sweetcorn
basil

(the sweetcorn hasn't germinated yet - would it be alright in the propagator facing east?)

Can only answer on the toms, but mine (marmande and GD) are happy as larry in an east-facing window.   :)

My peas germinated, appropriately enough, on the  toilet windowsill! - which is north facing.
I'd keep the sweet peppers, chilli peppers, aubergines, courgettes and squash on the south-west facing windowsills for added warmth, but I'd take a chance on the east-facing one for the others.
