Title: A "pre-historic" egg layed today
Post by: cocopops on July 05, 2008, 17:57:02
One of my hens layed this today.  It measures 7 cm x 4.5 cm and looks very strange.  I've certainly never seen one like this before :o

I'm sure I heard the hen screaming from up here in Scotland!

I've seen similar lumpy huge free range eggs in my other halfs farm in Orkney.

Oops the cig packet was for scale.  Not used to this posting pics.  Maybe this will show the egg in more detail. ;)

Cocopops, I had an egg two weeks ago that looked a bit like your one.  With a double yolk, it weighed in at 185g but was not as heavy as the one I had last year.

Sorry Cocopops...I was just having a jest RE the ciggy packet. A family member lives and works on a farm and he is mad on chickens...He really is  ::) ??? ;D so I will give him a bell and get back to you.

Cheers

Hiya Cocopops

I regularly get these prehistoric looking eggs.  Can't work out what is going on with them I generally just up the grit and oyster shell and they seem to disappear!

They are weird though!

Old Bird!
