Title: Advice on storing root veg
Post by: MATTOCK MADNESS on July 24, 2014, 19:46:47
Hi everyone this season I decided to grow a lot of root veg beetroot kohl rabi celeriac swede and turnip. With this wonderful weather and plentiful watering I will have an abundance or glut of root veg, so my question is about storage, I haven't got a root cellar, have got a tiny shed also have a rather large utility room which is cool most of the time when the tumble dryer is off. Any advice would be grateful. :sunny:

i use soft sand in a box and layer the veg up, 1 sand 1 veg 1 sand 1 veg and carry on till the box is full, dont use sharp sand as there is too much salt in it and it dries out the veg and they go soft, i keep them in my brick out building and they last for months.
