Title: Community Award
Post by: busy_lizzie on April 03, 2007, 17:34:08
Just wanted to share my good news.  We have just been to a presentation of the Healthy Community Awards and our community allotment has won a highly commended, which was presented by the Mayor.  We are chuffed to bits, even though we are just starting out and are just a great big space at the moment, it will be a great help to us in getting more funds and good publicity. busy_lizzie  :D

That's really good news BL & it should encourage you all to keep going.  I was watching a video from a link on here of the Manor Garden site & the community spirit there was amazing, it would be wonderful to create something like that at all sites [though the big boys would still knock it all down when it got in their way I suppose.]

Good luck & would love to see some pics.  :)

WOOHOO! Well done  ;D

My best friend is from Whitley Bay! He spends many many hours telling me about his childhood in Spanish City!

Many many many congrats BL 8)

Now to get it framed, eh? Oh and to get it written up in your local rag?

I know of all the hard work you've done, and are doing,  to get this project up-and-running, and you, personally, deserve every success and a Gold Star* just for you.

Thrilled to bits for you.

Thanks Lish and everybody. So nice of you all. Still can't believe it as we were amongst Carers groups and Hospices etc, so feel very lucky we were even considered at this stage of our allotment development.  The next hurdle is if somebody could award us some cash for equipment.  Was interviewed over the phone this morning for the Mayors fund, so here's hoping! Our certificate is already in a lovely frame Lish. Just need a wall/shed to put it on.  :) busy_lizzie

we got a grant from awards for all ( the lottery fund),
if you look on the allotments regeneration initiative site, I havent got the proper website here, I can get it for you if you can't find it, there's lots of grant ideas on there, plus they have mentors who will spend time either on the phone or visit your site and give you ideas..let me know if you need the proper one  ;D manic mal
