Title: Early birthday pressies!

How happy am I !!  My mum and sister have decided to give me my birthday pressies 10 monthes early !!  Sister is buying me raspberry canes and mum is buying me asparagus crowns (or whatever they are called) !  How cool is that !!

Nice one EJ-but remember that now you have to play a little game called wait awhile :)

If the raspberry canes are summer fruiting then cut them hard back once planted to crop next year on this year`s growth.

You could take a very light picking from the asparagus next year but if you can resist the temptation wait a couple of years.

So it'll be asparagus in lemon sauce and raspberry fool for pudding then. yum!

EmmaJane, are you sure the presents aren't two months late?

I just got a belated x-mas gift in the mail today. Two fabulous veggie garden books from America. The same author/gardener that wrote about the trick with the tomato plant root in my 30 year old book remember?

Aren't we the lucky ones?

EJ thats great how did you manage that are you going to have a lottie party you supply the spades and they supply the wine?
