Ribes, flowering currant, easy to take cuttings, leaves should smell like a black  currant bush when crushed.

Forgot to say, it will prune and shape to tidy it up, preferably just after flowering. Just when you want your cuttings.

Hardwood, soft wood, layering, they all work with this one. It even has a 'hairy' leaf for leaf cuttings. I found one called white icicle  in a garden we were cleaning up. It had really got out of hand, but it had rooted everywhere it touched the ground. I have a nice one in the garden taken from our tidying up :icon_cheers:

Ace,
Is this similar in growth habit to a buddleia?
I’m looking for bee & butterfly friendly shrubs for my garden

Hi Debs,

It's not as rampant as buddleia and less woody so it's easier to keep in shape. Likes sun best, but will flower in shade. Ours was a blow-in or, more likely a bird dropping, is in a hedge on the north of our garden with the house blocking a lot of sun.

As far as  I am aware, they are tough as old boots.
