No, thank goodness! He has watering system, I feed them occasionally, and dead head once a week, which in a pub, is not such a bad job!!!! Trying to come up with some novel winter ideas at min. What's your cure for stiff necks? Dare I ask! Lottie  ;D

Chickens eh, nowt like spreading your wings  ;D I am abstaining from the rhubarb at the moment, overdid it slightly last night, but help yourself. You seem girlie enough to me. As for stiff necks, I reckon a good massage does the trick!  ;D

And what makes you think Lottie doesnt like the old bubbly??

She drinks wine doesnt she ? I just need to add some soda to this rhubarb wine, as good as champagne then . . .  :D

Rhubarb, pint, champagne, not fussy!!!! Not a spirit girl though, or red wine, has funny effect!!!!All lovely, thanks very much!! Can't find my pint though Jaggy????? Polytunnel is 15ft by 10ft, not huge, I know, but spent all pennies now...My old boy gave me all his seed trays today!!! Might have been cos I accidently locked him in his shed :o, now that was a bit awkward.....  ::) ::) ::) Lottie  ;D
Title: Re: Gawn and done it!!
Post by: Derekthefox on August 10, 2005, 16:36:25
15ft x 10ft sounds big enough for starters to me. I am stuck with a 6x8 greenhouse  :( which I managed to reclaim off an old disused allotment. Mind you it cost me nowt but labour, so I am not complaining . . .
Title: Re: Gawn and done it!!
Post by: undercarriage plan on August 10, 2005, 17:27:43
Same as you, D, got my greenhouse for free, just by dismantling, (OK OH did.......!), But I thought I can always add on to polytunnel as my empire begins to grow  ;D Lottie ;)
Title: Re: Gawn and done it!!
Post by: Derekthefox on August 10, 2005, 17:55:48
Yes, I can see your empire growing . . . First Woodbridge, then Suffolk, the whole of east anglia . . . England being swallowed . . . then Europe . . .  ;D

Ah well, need to get off to my guitar social, a bit of a summer bash, to stop the fingers getting stiff. Will be back by 9, catch up on the news then !  :D

A third pub would do.... ;)!! Enjoy your evening, Derek!! I'll be plotting my gardening take-over bid.......and having spent 2 hours, in the middle of a field, digging compost into bags, for free I hasten to add ;D ;D ;D, I feel a bath may be in order..... ;) Lottie

RU going to be growing your own hanging basket plants from seed then Lots?

The pub looks great by the way.  Do you water and maintain them as well?
Title: Re: Gawn and done it!!
Post by: undercarriage plan on August 11, 2005, 17:34:04
That's the plan, Wardy!! There are some round the back as well, in a courtyard.  All the plants/compost/feed etc cost £300, so I figured that if I grew them from seed myself, then I'd charge the same, but cost to me so much less.  I maintain them, takes alot of dead-heading  :-\, but he has an automatic watering system, thank God!!!! I spend enough of my time as it is, standing on the tables out the front!!! Lottie ;D

Well, I've been diggin all day, but finally got the site cleared and ready for polytunnel.  Thought if I posted pic then if anyone can see me doing something daft, they can put me right, please!! To date, I've cut down nettles, my Dad harrowed over them, today I went over it and took out all roots I could find, raked it, danced 2step over it to firm, then raked again!!! Bit on the tired side, really filthy but well chuffed!!! Lottie  ;D

Gosh, well done Lottie, you must be well and truly exhausted after that. Bet you have muscles like an Irish Navvy now eh!  :D

No, joking aside, you have good reason to feel proud of yourself.

Hope you don't get despondent next week, with most of us being away . . .

Derek  :D

Thanks Derek, too busy showing Arnie how it's done..... ;D Have a wonderful hol. By the time you get back, hopefully the pt (eh Greenwizzard ;)) will be up, and I'll be sat on grass beaming!! Or crying hysterically........ ::) Lottie  ;D

Did you put the nettles on the compost heap?  They make a good brew  :)

I hope you find putting up your polytunnel a breeze  ;D  Will be if you do it in a force 10.  I expect it will be like flatpack only bigger.  You'll have to take charge of the instructions though Lotty if you're getting help from blokes as the first thing they do is put the instructions to one side unread and then end up with loads left over and the doors upside down  ;D

Good luck with it - you'll need it  ;D

Thanks Wardy!! And thank you for nettle advice!! I had put them on compost heap, but I'm going back this pm, so will put some soaking in water, is this right??? All advice gratefully received, I don't have a proud bone in my body!! Will also take construction point very seriously, I think I'll sit on the side lines and holler orders!! Don't want to need ladder to get in..... ::) ::) ::) Lottie ;D

They make good compost activator or nettle tea to feed your plants so nowt gets wasted  :)  Good plan about dishing out orders to your PT erection squad  ;D

Make sure you don't get the plastic inside out

Naaaaahhhh, only kiddin  ;D
