Title: when to pick

i have growen 3 hundred weight pumpkins this year with great success I just wanted to know when is the best time to pick them and at the moment they are large but pale in colour will they go orange or just stay that colour thanks

Tap on them and if you get a relativefly hollow sound they are ready, if it is dull thud then they are not ready.

Regarding colour it depends on how the leaves have covered it!

Usually the area that is on the soil can be quite yellow as is areas that have been covered in leaves.

Those areas exposed to the sun are generally a tan colour.
