Text can now be inserted between pic's.
Left click on a pic to enlarge. This is a useful option to enlarge those ones you want to compere but leave the other pic's small yet still in view.
Left click on enlarged pic to reduce back.
Write text and click 'additional Options' as usual to insert a pic. Click 'Brows' to find your pic on your 'puter. Double click that pic to pick-up the link. Then click 'Insert Attachment'. Your pic will insert onto the page where your curser is...; You will see 'attachment-1' where the pic will be. Press return to start a new line for additional typed words or second pic. Click 'more attachments' and brows for your second photo.
[attachment=1]
Like so...
[attachment=2]
Clicking on a file below will open a new window.

Hi Kenkew
You may think this is a silly question, but its only that to those who know the answer. The question is: How do you insert the pictures in the first place? I've tried various methods but all I get is [img] and not the picture.
-

Exactly, I have been trying all week to put a photo in a post using Photobucket. My grandson gave me blow by blow instructions today but
I definitely have a problem with Photobucket as there are always flashing ads on the page with my picture - just on that site. I have told the site owner and they asked me send a copy of the page but the jumping ad bit doesn't copy.
I am not a thicko, honest, but it has got me beat. I have also tried it in my Sony software but could not get to the size I was told to do i.e. 320x240.
-
Have you tried removing the [IMG] at the beginning and end of the link you are trying to post - that's how I seem to be able to post a piccy here, it means folks have to click on the link to see the piccy tho :)

I just ignore all the flashin ads ;D

Testing this from PBucket.

Seems to work OK. I did it by copying the IMG code under the PBucket pic and pasting it here. No problem.

This was just a test to see if it works - it does!
Someone holding a Tromba d'Albegna squash I grew.

omg! Thats a weird looking thing! The squash I am talking about, no offence to the headless man.

The headless man is a bit weird too! Only joking,it's my brother in law. The squash was grown up 8ft. bean poles and when it reached the ground it started to curl round on itself.
-
What was the squash and what did you make with it?

It's Tromba d'Albenga from www.seedsofitaly.co.uk
You can use it like any other winter squash and it keeps well. I sometimes roast it with onions, or use it in soup. It is nearly all 'flesh' with only a few seeds near the fat end.

I don't think you are going wrong at all.
When you insert the 'image code' between the tags([img}***[/img]http://) you will indeed see 'the image address'!
Once you have done this; look in preview and you will/should see the picture you want to post.
All that is required then is;click on 'post' then we all will see it!
BTW Ensure you have resized your picture in photobucket before you copy the image address. I use the 'large' setting I find it fits on these pages quite well vis;

HI ALL. I am trying out method of posting pic's as have not had any success yet!
No still no joy (additional options) does not give you any way of doing it! Can anybody please give a step by step way for fellow thickies and myself.
Jonick
-
HI All. Pressing (additional options) gives no way of inserting Pic's, Or clicking browse!
-
I get the feeling that double image tags are getting used.
If copying and pasting the 'image code' from 'Photobucket' you do not have to put the code in image tags as these have already been taken care of, i.e. they are already part of the code!
In other words all that is required is a straight copy & paste into A4A
If you are not just copying & pasting I guess this is why you are unsuccessful with your uploads.
Just a thought ??? ::)
-
You have to pay to post pics on A4A using the forum option.
Free and easy is post you pic on tinypics,an image hosting site click on the code that tells you it is for forums...copy then when you come to put the pic in your message on here just paste the code in and your pic will appear. :)
-
HI All.
Both the above messages are gobbledegook to me can nobody explain it in simple step by step directions!
Jonick.
-
jonick,
there are tons of posts on here on how to post pics. just search for "Posting pictures"
the simple way is to pay a tenner and you get an extra button - go to profile and then paid subscriptions.
Other than that there are two ways of doing it...
1 - use an external hosting site like photobucket or flickr
Spudly posted this
To use Photobucket.
1. Search for photobucket and get yourself registered on their site
2. I find it easier to move any photo's i want to upload to my documents folder.
3. On the photobucket home page you will see a section " Choose Files" (select my computer)
4. This will open up another window for your computer. If not already selected, select my documents.
5. Double click the picture you wish to send to photobucket. This will take a minute or so to upload.
6 When the picture has uploaded a window will open for you to add a title. If you do not wish to do so
click on return to album.
7. Back to photobucket page. Move you mouse pointer over the picture that you wish to use. This will
open up a drop down menu. Left click the IMG code at the bottom of the menu to highlight it, then once
it's highlighted right click and select copy.
8. Now back to A4A page. You can now right click into your post and select paste. This will show a long
list of letters and numbers. This will show a picture the next time you or someone else reads the post.
The other way is to use the free gallery option
Using the free gallery isnt that hard once you have got some images in there..
Click on profile (top menu)
Click on View Gallery
Assuming you have uploaded your images then click on the image and copy the BB Code from the bottom left...
Just make sure you have ensmallened your pics...
-
How basic do you want it?
Go to a website called tinypics.............upload your picture....................you will see a code for forums........click on it..........right click and choose copy.
Do your message on here and then right click again and click on paste...then post your message and pic.
There are lots of different ways but if you want simple it is about as simple as you can get.
Try it step by step, till you try you won't get anywhere ;D
-
Just a test!

I could`nt agree more, every other site that I have been on you just upload from your computer so simple, is it because I don`t pay a fee. Please make it simple say like the facebook site.
Just tried again, clicked on image and this symbol gobbledegook comes up what are you supposed to do with that (don`t tell me) ::)
-
No. You can post photographs without paying a fee. Load your pictures into a free photo hosting website like Photobucket or Flickr and paste the link into your post here.
A4A isn't like Facebook which is a large commercial website that makes money out of advertisers and selling your information. Dan pays for A4A out of his own pocket. Hosting people's pictures on A4A requires capacity that Dan has to pay for so he asks people to pay a small annual charge if they want to post pictures direct into posts. That seems to me to be quite a fair way of doing it. If you don't want to pay, you still have the option of using a free host.

Couldnt be easier - all SMF forums work the same way..
-
Whilst all the aviation forums that I visit give you a quick Upload - Select - Upload, I do have to reduce in size. This takes quite a time.
And Photobucket puts your pics into an album where they can take a while to find.
I stick wit A4A!

Just testing. Newbie checking out the site etc. ;D

Thanks grawrc, I am rather pleased with it :) we bought it just over a year ago in flower from a garden centre, eventually the flowers died and it sat in the bath room for several months before blooming again.
It has had these blooms for ages, a really good value for money plant. :)

That's one gorgeous orchid Mike!
- and the donkey's beautiful, too!
Welcome to A4A, Mike.

Thats a lovely little fella called Marcelle that we came across in the Loire valley, he was very patient while I messed about doing a self take with the camera, took me a few goes before I got the shot I wanted. Think he really enjoyed the attention

Thanks Betty :)
My camera is a Nikon D300 (DSLR) 12mgpx, for this image I had a 17-35mm F2.8 zoom lens attached. The Orchid was photographed in front of our living room window , I used flash to counter the effect of back lighting .

Thanks for that. I just love the way the orchid is so in focus and the background is not.
Any more photos?
-
Yes I have plenty of photos :) I'll start some fresh topics though, I seem to have inadvertently highjacked this thread ::)
I've also started my personal galleries, hopefully it won't be too long before I get my allotment and will be able to document its progress as well.

Right then.... :P

I guess that reading this link, there is no way that I can just post a picture off my computer onto a post.
Is this correct?
-
Inline uploading does require a tenner sub which goes towards the upkeep of the site.
There are other ways - mainly using external hosts or your own free gallery..There are lots of posts about how to do this if you do a quick search.
-
Finally, here's my maybug
