Post by: beanie3 on September 26, 2010, 16:37:54
Where do you all buy your seeds/plants from......whose cheap?  whose reasonable?  whose reliable?  Just trying to get an idea......i have only really used Marshalls but i think there maybe better options out there.

Franchi for big packets particularly good for carrots and courgettes.
Tozer direct for the newest breeding at very reasonable prices.

If you have a Wyevale gardlen centre near you, you might catch the end of their seed sale with all packets at 50p, but you may be too late as they will be needing the space for their Christmas stock. ::)

I buy lots of seeds off eBay.   Look around on there and they come cheap, as little as 99p, with many good sellers.  :o

Always have done and always will do for the seeds I dont save from my own plants.  No need to pay high prices from seed companys like Marshals.

The one I us the most is......   Premier_Seeds_Direct (53711)  H/ Recommended.

No running around looking.  You have thousands to choose from and delivered straight to your door.   :-*  :-*  :-*  :-*

I bought a few from ebay this year - the sellers buy in bulk and you get the seeds in a tiny ziplock bag but they were all what they said they were (Piccolo tomatoes etc).  Good prices and P&P at 60p however many packs you buy. I will be buying a few more next year (spagetti squash caught my fancy).

But most seeds from Wyevale's 50p sale and the like.  Last November a guy on the local market had masses of Suttons Seeds at 4 for £1 including the exotic stuff that you normally have to get from their website (Senshyu onion seed etc) and a bought 40 packs from him.

Just keep my eyes open really.

Alan romans are great especially for beans and peas - very cheap! and good varieties, even though they are very basic. I bought from DT browns last year and they also are pretty good.

Impressive range.  Some interesting things to try.  Good price especially with p&p only 59p.  And good number of seeds per packet.  Will give them a try.

Just spent my Sept veg money on plants for the front garden so veg for next year will have to wait its turn.

THe years seed buying starts at Wyevales.... tend to try to get htere the first day 9when they're still all on racks rather than in buckets cos I'm a bit of a fox in a henhouse otherwise.... I've used several on ebay multiple times... Premier Seed Direct, Midland Seed COmpany, Just Seeds, Real Seeds, never had anythign other than good service. Alan Romans for spuds ... sevberal of us at work get together and order in  to save on postage... plus it means we can split a small bag if we fancy experiments,.... top up for oddballs at local GC that does big range loose around the end of January.... seed swaps are always useful too....  Thsii year I'll be doinga  big squash one and joining in the bean and pea one and at least one tomato one..... I'm now at the point of hunting specific varieties (or odd things), but my personal stocks of bean varieties come from these swaps so I want to keep the circle turning... I may have little use for Marvel of Venice, but other people might love it.....
