Title: Bees in my lottie sofa!
Post by: Deb P on June 02, 2016, 20:46:33
As I went into my shed today I noticed two white bottomed  bubble bees bumbling about. As I watched, they landed on the bottom of the small sofa I have in there, and crawled under the seats! They obviously have made a nest under there, I have no plans to disturb them, but I won't be doing much relaxing in there this year!

Oh dear, what a predicament!  You could end up with a shed load of them and not be able to use the shed!  I suppose there is no way of knowing if they have actually made a nest in the sofa or gone down a hole in the floor beneath it.

I have just bought the book "Field Guide to the bees of Great Britain and Ireland".  It is the first of its kind since the 1800's and covers over 270 species.  I am interested in bees and get many different types in my garden, including the aggressive tree bees that set up residence in a bird box a couple of years ago.

I watched them yesterday, the most I saw was three at one time, flight path through the roof eave to the sofa and back, they haven't seemed agressive so far so I'm happy to leave them beeee.....
