Title: Shallots
Post by: Tralfamadorean on June 20, 2018, 08:45:08
Although I planted my shallot sets in the usual manner this year they are acting as though they are ready for harvest early (leaves have withered and lay flat to the ground). Indeed one or two have produced reasonable bulbs. The majority however have proceed nothing. There is no sign of rust or other attacks. Flummoxed!! Any ideas???

My guess is this hot weather my leeks have gone the same way. I am just going to leave them and see what happens.

My banana shallots grown from seed are also sulking, look like spring onions instead of the fat bulbs they usually grow into. I have actually watered them way more than I usually do because they were looking so pathetic, not much option but to see what happens as you say TeeGee....
