For the last few months I have had in the region of 50 Siskins on the feeders every day. Today for the first time ever about 6 different 'siskins' appeared. They were about the same size and similar in appearance but had a red patch on the top of the head and a pink breast. Turned out they were male Redpolls. The females look similar to female Siskins so there may well have been some of them as well but I am not proficient enough to distinguish them yet.
Does anyone else get Redpolls, are they common in the UK or normally restricted to certain areas.
