Title: Edible Flowers

Hi, was wondering if anyone grows edible flowers.

I want to have some flowering plants to attract 'good' insects and thought rather than just flowers - edible flowers would be a good option?

Anyone have any suggestions on which ones to get?

Viola petals, rose petals, day lily petals (hemerocalis), borage..there is quite a number of flowers that can be eaten..but it doesn't have end in there..
Bread seed poppies are really good for bees, they will gather eagerly its pollen and you will end up plenty of useable seed for your use... ;)
Courgetter flowers you can eat..and bees will love the flowers too.
Many herbs have flowers that attract insects while you only use the leaves for your purposes..basil, oregano, mint, rosemary, chives....

I have never got beyound Nasturtiums - nice peppery taste pretty on a salad.

Nigella seeds are known as Kalonji or BLack Onion Seed in Indian cooking, the thing that makes naan bread taste like naan bread ...

poppy seeds are quite nice on bread occasionally

apparently fuschias are edible but I have yet to try it and it's more about the fruit there too...

chive flowers are attractive and edible....

I've eaten fuchsia berries..but they are quite tasteless..not unpleasant though...and our honeybees seem to be interested hardy fuchsias and are seen visiting them when in flower.. ;D

Don't forget Wild Rocket flowers are tasty to eat....and they seem to attact beneficial insects too....and Pot Marigold ( as long as you break up into individual petals).

I tried a pot of Lavender Jelly once and it was very nice.

We eat chive and borage with salad.

Chives, borage, calendula petals, rose petals, rocket and radish flowers, nasturtiums, pea flowers, any squash flowers, infact, I harvest those as much as the fruits.  Then nigella seeds, sunflower seeds and rosehips.  Oh, and if your radish do run to seed, the seed pods, eaten young are delish.
