Title: Edamame Beans
Post by: Duke Ellington on January 15, 2017, 16:51:31
Has anyone on A4all grown these and can offer good advice on how to grow? I am thinking of growing some this year.

I tried them a couple of times and got nothing but very small plants with a very low yield per plant.  Interesting, but very tender and they didn't seem to like the climate.  I'm afraid I can't remember the variety.

Likewise - i only tried them once in the greenhouse and got a very small yield. I dont remember though what time of year I started them. My greenhouse also isn't kept heated so don't know if that might make a difference. i really enjoy eating them (the small yield was very tasty!) so hope you have success and can teach us what works!

Hi I understood that deemed were just soya beans.
I've tried to grow these several times because yummy! However have learnt that the embryo is very prone to damage from handling the dried seed and so has poor germination from commercial packs.
I wondered about trying to sprout some from a shop bought salad? Will be watching how this thread turns out with interest! X sunloving
