Title: Paper Sacks
Post by: Piglet on January 25, 2004, 17:46:12
I usually ask one of the ladies at my local coop to save me their paper sacks to store my potatoes in when harvest time is around.

good idea Piglet.  Just goes to show how much lateral thinking goes on with gardening.  Grab whatever you can recycle! ;D

I also find that the paper sacks from a certain well known chintz-hating Scandanavian furniture store are good for spuds too (especially if you use them one inside the other!)   ;)

Ragged robin, if you go to your local foodstore instead of diy store, as they empty the paper potato / carrot etc.. sacks you can use them to fill up with your own produce - plus full size.  Mine dont ask what i want them for they are most obliging.

...well now you come to mention it Ceri, I haven't been to 'that' store for such a long time!  Could this be because it takes bl**dy hours to find somewhere to park, get in the store, navigate round the store to find the item you want and where it is located in the warehouse, only to find when you get to said location they haven't got what you want anyway!?  Or, perhaps more irritating, they've got everything except one item (usually a critical piece) that they swear will be back in stock next week ...  only you find out two days later that the whole range is discontinued!  Argh - now you tell me they aren't even any good for paper bags!

Woe, woe, thrice woe!  ::)
